Types of Holiday Accommodation:

Types of holiday accommodation are as varied as flavours of ice cream -
villas, apartments, holiday cottages, condo's (condominiums), gites, chalet's, log cabins, chateaux, riads, manor houses, converted farmhouses..... even tree houses!

However, you'll be pleased to know that certain types of accommodation are region specific.

For example - Gites and chateaux's are common terms used in France, finca's in Spain and riads in Morocco.... and tree houses?..... well if your lucky you may find one in the Philippines, Thailand or even Africa!

As a result "holiday villas" and "holiday apartments" are often used as generic terms to describe other types of holiday accommodation.

The most important factor when finding a holiday home is that you like it and that it suits your needs. However, as with location, if your planning on renting you're holiday home you need to consider the needs of your guests.

  • Is it large enough for you're target market?
  • Does the property have a pool?
  • Is there good access to local amenities and the airport?
  • Is it child friendly?
  • Is it suitable for the elderly or disabled?

By ensuring that your holiday rental meets the needs of your guests you can maximise on its rental potential.
