Visa and entry requirements

None until 24th October 2004 if traveling for up to 90 days on a valid UK or European passport. For up to the minute information visit www.state.gov

Health & Vaccinations

Vaccinations are not generally necessary when visiting Central Florida. However, whenever traveling it is a wise precaution to ensure basic vaccinations such as Tetanus are up to date.

Also ensure you have ample travel insurance as in most cases payment is required prior to treatment.

Driving in Florida

Most car hire companies have offices at or near the major airports.

If you plan on driving in Florida then take a photocopy of your full driving license (card & paper parts) to keep with you, and keep the originals somewhere safe. Also, remember that in Florida you drive on the right hand site of the road!

Some visitors to Florida are worried about car safety but with a few simple steps you can help put your mind at ease.

  • Stay to main or well lit roads wherever possible.
  • Keep valuables and any holiday bargains out of sight.
  • Leave a space in front when stopped in traffic, at lights, etc.
  • Keep your doors locked.
  • Try to keep moving and blend in with other drivers.
  • Avoid "road rage" - after all.... you're on holiday!

Holiday Safety

Most holidays in Florida go without a hitch. However, like all countries there is a risk of pickpockets, etc. By taking a few sensible precautions you can ensure that you have a stress free, enjoyable break.

  • Try to avoid wearing expensive jewelry, watches, etc.
  • Be alert and watch out for other members in your group.
  • Use a money belt or avoid placing wallets in loose fitting or back pockets.
  • Keep to well lit areas.
