Driving in Spain

Most Spanish car hire companies have offices at or near the major airports.

If you plan on renting a car and driving in Spain then take a photocopy of your full driving license (card & paper parts) to keep with you, and keep the originals somewhere safe. Also, remember that in Spain you drive on the right hand site of the road!

Most Spanish car hire companies will require the driver to be over 25.

Holiday Safety

Whilst most holidays in Spain are hassle free it is important to remember that, like all countries, there is a risk of pickpockets, etc. By taking a few sensible precautions you can ensure that you have a stress free, enjoyable vacation.

  • Street "scams" (such as "find the lady" and flower girls ) are common throughout major Spanish tourist areas. Avoid being roped in.
  • Don't leave valuables unattended on the beach.
(Waterproof "bum bags" and mobile phone cases are now available)
  • Use a money belt and avoid placing wallets in loose fitting or rear trouser pockets.
  • Be alert and watch out for other members in your group in busy areas.
  • Keep to well lit area
