Holidays in Spain

Eating out in SpainEating Out - Spain

In the main tourist areas such as Barcelona, Madrid and the many Costa regions you'll find a mixture of truly Spanish eating experiences alongside fast food chains and restaurants selling good old British fish & chips.

Outside of the main tourist areas cuisine takes on a more traditional feel with each region offering its local speciality. In Andalucia for example the local dish is Gazpacho - a cold soup made with tomatoes, cucumbers, green peppers garlic and olive oil.

If the regional specialties don't take your fancy Tapas provide a wide variety of choice and make for an ideal snack.

Whilst in most tourist resorts restaurants open for breakfast, lunch and dinner at "normal times", outside these areas it is not uncommon for Spanish restaurants to open for lunch between 1pm and 4pm and again for dinner from 9pm onwards.

Tipping - In Spain tipping is not as "compulsory" as in some other European holiday destinations. However, if you have received a pleasant, efficient service and would like to leave a tip 5 - 10% is the norm.

Can't wait for your next Spanish Holiday?

Well now you don't have to. Why not treat yourself to a night in with a fine wine, candles, romantic music and an authentic paella.
